Next-Generation Reactor Analysis

Studsvik’s latest software is optimized for the next generation of small, medium, and full-scale advanced reactors.

The latest release of Studsvik’s industry-leading, fuel vendor independent in-core fuel management software, CASMO-5 and SIMULATE-5, are designed to meet the challenges of modeling the next generation of new reactor builds.

We have invested significant effort to ensure our software will perform under the rigors of complex core and fuel designs, by making several improvements, including:

  • The best available nuclear data
  • Robust first-principle neutronic modeling and advanced numerical methods
  • Better user interface design for improved modeling efficiency
  • Expanded thermal-hydraulic modeling capabilities

CASMO-5 and SIMULATE-5 have been tested on a variety of next-generation reactor designs, from small and medium modular reactor designs (SMR), to mid-scale next-generation designs such as ATMEA or AP1000, to full-scale units such as APWR, EPR, ESBWR, and System 80+.

In addition, our engineering services staff comprise hundreds of years of experience in reactor analysis. Our expertise in reactor physics and thermal-hydraulic analysis is assisting several organizations involved in advanced reactor analysis and new reactor builds.

From independent assessment, assistance in feasibility studies, to design certification and licensing, Studsvik is being called upon by organizations all over the world to help the nuclear industry progress.
